Our History / Ons Geskiedenis

Our school was founded on 1 February 1960 by Mrs Trudy van de Wall (Social worker), and Mr Jannie Brink. The institution was referred to as a centre, as the term school was then not allowed. Since 1994 the term school has been used.

The school started on a very small scale at a premises called Ruimte, (currently known as Sally Aucamp). The hostel learners were accommodated at the house of Mrs Trudy van de Wall.

The learner number increased quickly and she realised that another premises was needed. With the assistance of Northern Cape Mental Health, the current Kenilworth Estate was purchased from De Beers Consolidated Mining.

Currently we provide education for 220 learners with a teaching staff component of 28 members.
